This year Miss Davis County Bailey Johnson and Miss Davis County Outstanding Teen Eliza Smith are excited to announce that along with the committee and our sponsors we will be donating a tree to the Festival of Tree's this year. The theme for this year is "A Royal Christmas". As sisters in the Miss America pageant we wanted to extend an invitation to you as a title holder to donate one ornament to our tree to share your love and support for the organization. We are just asking that the ornament represent you as a title holder or where you serve and to be silver or red.
On November 30th we will have a Christmas social to all come together and decorate the tree, take photos and spread the holiday cheer! I hope you join us in our cause!
More details to come!

Evergreen Safe Harbor Benefit
Hey everyone! The Miss Davis County pageant was asked to participate in the Safe Harbor Evergreen Christmas event this year. It's for a wonderful cause and we are truly blessed to be part of this event. We are asking friends and family if they could also donate towards the cause. We are looking for a pre lite Christmas tree. It doesn't need to be decorated because we have that part taken care. If you or someone you know would be willing to donate one please let us know! Thank you!
The event will be on Tuesday November 19th at the Davis County Conference Center located at 1615 N. 700 W. Layton. If anyone is interested in attending the event please follow this link! http://evergreensfundraiser.org/

New Miss Davis County
Davis County is proud to announce their new 2013 royalty! On August 2nd
eleven young women competed for scholarships from Weber State
University and scholarships from Davis County as well other prize
packages featuring a photography session with award winning photographer
Melissa Papaja. The contestants competed in interview,
swimsuit/fitness, talent and evening wear. Miss Bailey Johnson was
crowned the new 2013 Miss Davis County. Bailey is from Syracuse, Utah
where she attends Weber State University. Her major is Dance Education,
which is also her platform. Her goal this year as Miss Davis County is
to reach out to all elementary, and secondary schools with her message
of how important the arts are in the schools. Bailey is an avid dancer
and hopes that she can ignite the love for arts in others that she has
found within herself. Bailey is a former Miss Syracuse and is very
excited to be able to compete for Miss Utah. Davis County has a great
track record with sending title holders to state and winning. The
reigning Miss Utah, Ciera Pekarcik is a former Miss Davis County as so
is Miss Utah 2012, Kara Arnold.
Bailey's first attendant is Callen Crenshaw and her second attendant is Victoria Pozzuoli.
As
part the program, the Miss Davis County Scholarship Pageant also
crowned a new Miss Davis County Outstanding Teen, Eliza Smith, who
brought down the house with her vocals. Eliza attends Bountiful High
School and her platform is Music Therapy. Her first attendant is Madilen
Kellogg.

Good bye from Ellie Tucker
Hi all! There is
so much I have to say about this incredible organization and this whirlwind of
a wonderful year that it’s hard to even know where to begin! I began this
journey to the Miss Davis County title with the inspiration of my HopeKids,
children with life threatening illnesses. The HopeKids Organization brings hope
to these children along with a will to fight by filling their calendars with
fun activities so they always have something to look forward to. After working
as co-chairman and then chairman of the HopeKids Princess Party I knew
something had to be done to raise awareness for the organization. I thought a
crown aught to do the trick and here I am now. Davis County is my home and I
can’t think of a better way I could have spent this last year than serving my
friends and neighbors in Davis County. The doors opened and service
opportunities provided by this title were truly life changing. While I may be giving up the crown
tonight, the lessons I have learned and the incredible people I have met I will
cherish and carry with me for a lifetime. I would like to give special thanks
to the Davis County Commissioners for their help and support, the Miss Utah
Organization for awarding me the honor of the Sadie Huish Memorial Scholarship
and Davis County for their continued support. Thank you to my Mom and my Dad.
You guys have been with me through everything; the good days, the not so good
days, and every single harebrained idea.
There are not words to thank you enough! To my second family thank you
for bringing so many smiles to my face and a special thank you to my Little
Luck Charm! A thanks has to go out to the best brother ever, Jacob, partly
because I promised I’d publicly thank him but mostly because without his
politics prep before every interview I wouldn’t be here today. Colton, thank
you for being my rock and inspiring me to keep fighting and to always “keep
smiling”. Thank you to the HopeKids Organization for
allowing me to be so involved with them this year! Every single one of you are
my heroes!! And last but not least, a huge thank you to Millie Flamm. Your
brave fight and sweet smile inspired so many. You will be sorely missed.
Good Bye from Alex Salimbene
The experiences
I’ve had this past year have been once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that I am
beyond proud to have been a part of. From day one in my basketball shorts to
now in my little black dress, I owe this community a huge thank you. It has
been such an honor to have been able to serve with you and represent Davis
County. This sash looks even better with every bit of dirt the service has put
on it!
First, I love to thank my sponsors who have given me mounds of their time and support. Their love and interest in what I do is so much appreciated. Michael Murphy and Murphy’s Guitars, you have cheered me on every step of the way and helped in fostering my platform and love of music! Thank you Mrs. Cavenaugh’s Chocolates for loving me just enough to still fit into my dresses. Classy Chassis, Madeleine L’Amour, and Ypsilon, you have always made me feel beautiful. Our amazing Davis County commissioners and event staff all deserve a huge thank you as well because none of this would have been possible without them!
I’d like to thank Ellie and the Hope Kids for allowing me to be a part of their lives. You have touched my heart so deeply and I am truly inspired by the things you have accomplished. My prayers will always be with you. My pageant director Steffani and photographer Melissa deserve novels of love and thank you’s. Words will never be able to express how much both of you have changed my life. I love and look up to you and hope to continue all of our exciting adventures!
To my grandmother and Aunt Shea, thank you for helping me look my best at every appearance. My family and friends have been loving, patient helpers behind the scenes, making this all possible. I love and thank you all, especially my little sisters, Kennedy, Izzy, and Lauren, who have been my biggest fans! I know they walk around the house in my heels & crown when I’m not home. I can’t wait to see you in these dresses someday! Finally, I’d like to recognize my amazing mother. Every step of the way, she has been my support and I know that all of my successes are because of her. I love you mom. These are your successes too.
As my tears fall onto this stage for the final time as Miss Davis County’s Outstanding Teen, I’d like to wish the next young woman the best of luck. This will change your life and you will grow in ways you never imagined! I wouldn’t change a thing from the past year. Being Miss Davis County’s Outstanding Teen will forever be a part of me. I love you all.

Count down
So the count down to the pageant has started! In five days from today we will crown a new Miss Davis County and Miss Davis County Outstanding Teen. So in honor of Ellie Tucker and Alex Salimbene I will post my top five favorite moments with the two of them. I have watched these young women grow and accomplish so much and I am so proud of them.
Today's photo comes from the Davis County Fair, where we had a special photo booth donated by Dustin Izzat to help with a fundraiser for the pageant. We spent all weekend together laughing, playing and growing stronger as a sisterhood. I have loved every minute of it!

If tomorrow starts without me, And I'm not here to see, If the sun should rise you find your eyes all filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn't cry The way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. He said my place was ready, in heaven far above and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned and walked away a tear fell from my eye. For all my life I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do. It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays the good ones and the bad. I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while, I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be, for emptiness and memories would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you and when I did my heart was filled with sorrow. When I walked through heavens gates I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you” Today your life on earth has passed, but here life starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last, And since each day is the same There's no longing for the past. You have been so faithful, So trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do. You have been forgiven and now at last you're free. So won't you come and take my hand and share my life with me? So when tomorrow starts without me don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.”

Letter from the director
My dear contestants,
As we round this last week before the pageant I want each of you take time and meditate, center and remember why you are in this pageant. Always remember the reason and let it empower you. I have so enjoyed these last few months getting to know each of you, reading your words and seeing the amazing spirit that each of you bring. There is no workshop this weekend so I wont see you but know that my thoughts are with you and I will always carry our friendship with me where ever I go. The pageant is next friday August 1st. If I had it my way I would have all of you as my title holders and spend the year as one giant party, but this cant be the case. Only one teen and one miss will be able to continue the journey with me. I am so proud of all you and for everything that you have been able to accomplish. This summer has been amazing with you and I know that if you are not chosen by the judges, I know in my heart that you will continue on in your journey and accomplish many a great things. I love you all and am looking forward to seeing you at dress rehearsal.
Sincerely,
Steffani King
